DETROIT — A janitorial firm that has long served Detroit Public Schools is in jeopardy of closing unless the district pays it for past work, according to the company’s president. Other vendors contacted by The Detroit News confirmed late payments by DPS but were unwilling to criticize the district. City Cab, which has transported students with special needs for the district, considered closing because of setbacks related to an estimated $350,000 worth of outstanding DPS invoices, said CEO and co-owner Karen Anderson. DPS Chief Financial Officer Joan McCray appealed to vendors last month for their continued patience as the district “develop(s) a strategic plan to address our immediate and long-term cash reserves.
