Money problems before christmas? help?
Me and my husband were counting on friday to get our money and budget everything. Friday comes around and we get in the car to go to work, and find out it needs a new battery, so we lost time at work for that, plus had pay 100 for a new one, then they shorted our checks 200 each, and said they will make it up the payday after christmas, all of our bills are due which is hard enough to get by with what we have, and i will feel like the biggest crapbag if i don’t get my family some gifts, so much so i might work on christmas as an excuse out of it. What are some really nice gifts within a budget because i cannot afford what i wanted to get them (which i could have if not for my shorted check!)

Hit stores like TJ Maxx and Ross. Hit clearance racks too - you can find some good deals if you just look. But don’t spend so much you can’t pay your bills. Next year, start saving at least $50 out of your checks each (if you can, or some amount close to that) so you can have some money to buy gifts with this time next year.
Maybe explain to your kids also what is going on so that they understand. If you can’t do everything you wanted to now, maybe also save up some extra money in the next few months and take them shopping in March or April and tell them it’s a late Christmas present also and just surprise them.

One year my husband and I had no money for presents so we took pictures of items from magazines and catalogs that we wanted to buy each other and cut them out and wrapped them up in boxes - when we could afford to buy them we did (just delayed a little bit) - Christmas was still fun and we didn’t go into debt. to celebrate.
