Today should be called “no pay day” because so many of us have run out of money after the Christmas spending spree, according to a poll. Some householders will dip into their savings or rely on credit and loans to make ends meet for the rest of the month, the Norwich Union said. Its poll found that 73 per cent of respondents thought they would run out of money before or on Jan 9. Some 43 per cent of people surveyed said this month was the most worrying time of year financially, while 19 per cent did not think it was likely they could cover all their household bills during January.
