With the dollar falling in value as a result, and commodity prices - especially oil - rising, inflation rears its ugly head which in turn causes businesses to raise prices and layoff workers. I hear the same old thing about the Fed keeping interest rates low for too long, but the Fed didn’t invent SIV’s and CDO’s. And that is precisely the moment when you need a central bank to be the buyer of last resort, which was the original reason for creating central banks in the first place.
