• Berlin winners cash in on big paydays - MLive.com- Topic: Cash Before Payday
Wrapping up a hugely popular two-day Boyne Machine 150 Saturday night, the raceway and Fred Campbell — one of the night's feature winners — served notice that while the season may be changing, racing has stayed as hot as ever. Campbell won $7,500 as part of the Champion Racing Association's visit to the track, part of Berlin's biggest payday of the season that featured a total purse of $64,000. VanDoorn, a 19-year-old from Coopersville, driving for former Berlin star Tim Steele, led all but the last 21 laps of the 125-circuit event. The first segment of the Boyne Machine 150 was won by Berlin late model season points leader Tom Thomas who had to reel in front runner and Berlin returnee Terry Senneker who had built up an impressive lead before mechanical issues caused him to give up his advantage.
